Yay! It’s September, Read a New Book Month! To celebrate, let us find about more and more books we can read. I am sharing a list of some of my all-time favourites in the non-fiction genre with all of you. So, if you are a bibliophile like me and are looking for a new book, read on…

1. Chicken Soup for the Soul

Chicken Soup for the Soul is an inspirational and motivational book which has a collection of short stories which have real-life incidents narrated by people from around the globe.

It has a series of titles- Chicken Soup for the Kid’s Soul, Chicken Soup for the Preteens’s Soul, Chicken Soup for the Teenagers’s Soul and similar titles for grown-ups, pet-lovers etc. I have read the first three I mentioned.

The stories, written by kids, deal with different topics-' friendship',' family', 'obstacles' and 'making a difference' to name a few. They carry a mixed bag of emotions-sometimes we laugh and sometimes we cry- but all the stories are equally inspiring and heart-warming.

Online Availability- Just search ‘Chicken Soup for the Soul’ on Google (or Amazon) to find many, many titles.

2. Shoot, Dive, Fly: Stories of Grit and Adventure from The Indian Army

The title says it all. Shoot, Dive, Fly is a non-fiction book by Rachna Bisht Rawat (with the foreword by MS Dhoni) which has stories describing the perils—the rigours and the challenges—and perks—the thrill and the adventure of a career in the armed forces.

The book is gripping and very interesting. Each story highlights the bravery and indomitable spirit of our Army men and women. It also busts many myths that surround the Indian Armed Forces.

A must read for anyone who wants to read some real, non-fiction adventure stories.

3. I Am Malala: The Story of the Girl Who Stood Up for Education and was Shot by the Taliban

I am Malala is an autobiographical book by Malala Yousafzai, co-written with Christina Lamb. It tells the story of the Malala Yousafzai- the youngest Nobel Prize laureate who received the Nobel Prize for Peace in 2014.

It is a beautiful, inspiring book which describes the struggle and difficulties she faced while fighting for her rights. It is motivational to see how she was able to scale such heights and contribute so much for the betterment of the world because of her courage to stand up and raise her voice against injustice and discrimination.
