A wonderful series of books, Malory Towers by Enid Blyton is a the relatable tale of a new girl, Darrell Rivers, and her journey from being a new student to passing out of the boarding school as a young woman. As each term progresses, we continue our journey with her (in different books of the series), and are introduced to many other beautifully written characters, including Darrell’s best friend, Sally. It a delightful story, with ups and downs, friendships and betrayals, laughter and sobs and unexpected twists and turns.

About the author-Enid Blyton (11 August 1897 – 28 November 1968) was an English Author. She was born in London, England. She was one of the world’s most famous children’s authors and also one of the most prolific authors of all time. Enid Blyton has been in the Guinness Book of World Records as one of the world's best selling writers. She is also included because she wrote more books than almost any other writer (about 700).

About the book series- Malory Towers is a series of twelve books (out of which the last six have been written in continuation by Pamela Cox) which traces the experience of Darrell Rivers as she attends Malory Towers, a boarding school for girls. The author makes us feel as if we are there with Darrell, as she meets new people, makes friends and struggles to control her fiery temper. She finds a true friend in a very unexpected way- and Enid Blyton never fails to put the emotions, the two friends go through, in words. The author has written flawed characters, and that makes the story even more relatable and interesting. As the story progresses, the reader starts loving how the complex emotions of a friend are described in a simple and easy to understand language.

Though the book was published in 74 years ago (in 1946), each and every school student will still be able to relate to and enjoy the book. This series of books potrays the true meaning of friendship and captures the spirit of school life in its truest essence.
