Conservation of Nature- The Need of the Hour

“The wealth of a nation is it’s scenic beauty-mountains, lakes, rivers, oceans and seas. That’s all there is. That’s where all the economy comes from.”

Conservation of nature and natural resources means caring for nature that has given life to humans and has fulfilled all their needs. The Earth has several natural resources, including air, water and soil, flora and fauna, raw materials (like minerals) etc.

Destruction of nature is being done in many ways such as deforestation, increasing number of industries which causes water & air pollution, advancement in technology and digging of fossil fuels without limits. According to World Health Organization, destruction of natural resources is one of the greatest threats to mankind. Even though nature has healed to an extent during the lockdown, a lot still needs to be done.

Mother Nature has been providing man with all its needs and has been fulfilling his desires and wishes, but she cannot fulfill his greed. It is said that nature gives and gives and expects nothing in return but it is our duty to ensure that we atleast do not harm it. Humans are called ‘Homo Sapiens’ that means ‘Wise man’ but we have been exploiting nature thoughtlessly.

It has rightly been said“ We have not got this planet from our forefathers .We have borrowed it from our future generations.” The need of the hour is to conserve nature and let mother nature know that we care for her. To conserve nature, we must remember the five R’s, which are- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Repair and Rethink.Some simple things to do to help save the environment also include using less energy, practicing water conservation, not using single-use plastic and recycling regularly.

What we are doing to the nature is a mirror reflection of we are doing to ourselves and we must understand that it is easy to save nature, if we work together. In the words of Magaret Mead ,“Never doubt that a group of thoughtful,committed citizens can change the world: indeed that is the only thing that ever has.”Let us all pledge to contribute in conserving natural resources and do our duty towards Mother Nature.
