“Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful.”
-Norman Vincent Peale
2021 has truly been an extraordinary year, and now it is about to come to an end. There is festivity in the air, and happy vibes all around. It’s looking a lot like Christmas!
Christmas, also known as the 'Feast Day of Christ', is celebrated on December 25 every year. It marks the birthday of Jesus Christ. We sing carols, decorate trees, bake cakes, dance as the embers glow and eagerly wait for Santa Claus to get us gifts!
Do you how the legend of Santa Claus started? It was inspired by the Christian Bishop, St. Nicholas. The saint wasn't a bearded man who wore a red suit; that tradition came much later. In the fourth century, he gave away his large inheritance to the poor and rescued women from servitude. In Dutch, his name is Sinter Klaas, which later morphed into Santa Claus in English.
People from across the globe celebrate Christmas with different traditions- there is a Giant Lantern Festival in Philippines, the Day of Little Candles in Colombia, and Cavalcade of Lights in Toronto. In Norway, people hide their brooms. It’s a tradition that dates back centuries to when people believed that witches and evil spirits came out on Christmas Eve looking for brooms to ride on.

But no matter what part of the world we live in, Christmas brings along the message of hope, love and togetherness. They say, the best gift of Christmas is realizing how much you already have. What truly matters is who is gathered around the tree, not what lies under it. The true spirit of Christmas is to give, care, share and lend a hand to those in need. Christmas is about opening our hearts and letting the giving begin.
May lovely, joyous times decorate your holiday season. May warm, special memories brighten your New Year. May the wonder of Christmas be with you, forever!
Merry Christmas!
Once again, wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas 🤶🏻🎅🏻🎄❄️!
