2020: Tragic or Magic?

“Difficult roads lead to beautiful destinations.”
2020 has been a happening, and yet uneventful year. Even though getting through this year was challenging, if we fell down seven times, we stood up eight and also learnt something important each time. I would say that 2020 was a magical year. Here are five lessons 2020 taught me, which I would like to remember:
1. What is taken for granted, is eventually taken away: We took so much to be for granted- attending school, going for trips, meeting friends. But once we get our normal lives back, I’m sure all of us will value it more.
2. Recognizing real superheroes: Once this pandemic is over, let us remember it wasn’t Batman, Superman or Iron-Man who got us through these tough times. It was the doctors, sanitation and healthcare workers, delivery persons, policemen and soldiers who protected us, cared for us and served us selflessly.

3. I enjoy my own company: I had a lot of time due to the lockdown which I utilized in learning new skills and honing my talents. I also realized that I can have fun even if I’m alone and also that I enjoy my own company.
4. Never cage animals: I strongly believe that this pandemic was Mother Nature’s way of making us realize how it feels to be locked- up inside our house and compare it with how the animals would feel, when held captive. Let us remember this message and always let them be free in their natural habitat.
5. Life goes on: The most important lesson I learnt from 2020 is that no matter what, life goes on. We can adapt to any situation and make the most out of it. We can overcome all hardships with unity and determination.
So, with these thoughts in mind, let us welcome 2021 with open arms and hope for a happy and bright year. Wishing everyone a Very Happy New Year!
