Who gave their blood and sweat for the nation

This is an ode to the soldiers

Who believe India's glory is their journey and destination

This is a gratitude note to the scientists

The teachers, the helpers, the leaders

This is a gratitude note to all those

Who work to make our country better

But this is also a message

From one Indian to another

This is a wish for us, for the year ahead

To match on ahead, together

I hope we honour the legacy

Thousands of bravehearts for us left

I hope we always remember

We have a responsibility to repay their debt

I hope we grow and blossom

Into the best versions of people we can be

I hope over all our differences

How similar we all are, we see

I hope 2023 is our year

Bringing peace and prosperity

I hope to see progress

Togetherness and unity

From one Indian to another

This is a reminder

That embracing our uniqueness, cultural diversity

Would bring about a paradigm shift

One I can't wait to see

A reminder, that we can, hand in hand, rise

That just loving who we are will suffice

On this beautiful journey, all moments we will cherish

And the world will see the new India

It will stand up and take notice
