They say Latin is a dead language, and while it is true that it does not have any native speakers anymore, I'd say it is far from dead. The 'Romance' languages- French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Romanian all stem from Latin. It is a beautiful language, with many, many beautiful sayings.
