With our heads held high and promises in our hearts

We set out on a new journey, a new chapter in our life to start

New beginnings can be scary, but they always are beautiful

As we stand on the crossroads of life, at each step we need to be careful

They day we take the first step, we start writing our own fate

We may fall down seven times, but we will stand up eight

It is okay for us to be tired; it is okay to even cry

But it is not okay to give up, it is not okay to not try

The festival of Makar Sakranti and Lohri teach us these beautiful lessons

We learn to work hard like the farmers, irrespective of the conditions

As their perseverance pays off, they behold the sight with a proud smile on face

The sight of golden grains in their fields, all swaying with grace

They smile, sing and dance, celebrating their win over hardships and pain

And prepare themselves for a new beginning, starting afresh all over again

This festival, across India, symbolizes the beginning of a journey of so many miles
