English is a confusing language. It can be understood through tough thorough thought, though. So, here are 7 reasons why we call English a funny language!

1. There is a ‘d’ in ‘fridge’, but not in ‘refrigerator’.

2. A ‘fat chance’ and a ‘slim chance’ have the same meaning.

3. We have noses that run and feet that smell.

4. When we transfer something by car, it’s called a shipment, bur when we transport something by ship, it’s called cargo.

5. You fill in a form by filling it out.

6. Read and lead rhyme, and read and lead rhyme. But read and lead don’t rhyme, and neither do read and lead.

7. A food server is called a waiter, even though it’s the customer who does the waiting!
